Mindustry server RAM: how much do you need?
Only Stardew is lighter than Mindustry on this site, and the one thing that grows here is the number of units on big maps.
Recommendation
You need a server with at least
3GB
- Engine / Base OS:
- 2 GB
- Player Overhead:
- +0.5 GB
- Estimated Raw Usage:
- 2.5 GB
- Suggested cores:
- 2
- Disk to allow:
- 5 GB+
Very light — the JVM and the simulation both stay small. Unit counts on large maps are the only thing that grows.

What uses the memory in Mindustry
Being a 2D game built to be cheap, its baseline barely shifts as players arrive. Units are the growing cost: late in a wave-defence run on a big map there can be hundreds of units and projectiles, each simulated separately, and that — not terrain or players — is where memory ends up.

Where people get it wrong
Planning around slots. A sprawling map late in a run with ten players outweighs a small map with fifty, so size for the map and how far into the waves you expect to get.
