Satisfactory server RAM: how much do you need?
No game on this site costs more per player than Satisfactory, and even so, the factory outweighs the people in it.

Belt and machine simulation is continuous and single-thread heavy. This is the game most likely to become CPU-bound before it runs out of memory.

What uses the memory in Satisfactory
Every belt, splitter, machine and item moving along a line is simulated all the time, whether players are online or not. By late game a factory running thousands of machines can use several times what the same four-player server needed in its opening hours, because the requirement follows what has been built rather than who is logged in.

Where people get it wrong
Picking a size in the early game. Your server will never again be as cheap as it is in those first few hours, so size for the factory you are planning to end up with — otherwise you will be migrating halfway through the playthrough.
