Squad server RAM: how much do you need?
Squad puts a hundred players on enormous maps, and the maps set the requirement far more than the players do.

What uses the memory in Squad
Layers are large, detailed and loaded in full, so the baseline is substantial before anyone joins. Each player costs little by comparison — the gap between fifty and a hundred players is much smaller than the gap between two layers. Vehicles and deployables add a little at runtime but are gone once the round ends.

Where people get it wrong
Scaling in step with slots. Twice the players does not mean twice the memory here; the map is a fixed cost and it dominates everything else.
