Vintage Story server RAM: how much do you need?
Vintage Story is one of the few games whose developers publish a sizing rule for the server: about 1 GB plus 300 MB for each player, for a normal survival world.
Recommendation
You need a server with at least
4GB
- Engine / Base OS:
- 1 GB
- Player Overhead:
- +2.4 GB
- Estimated Raw Usage:
- 3.4 GB
- Suggested cores:
- 4
- Disk to allow:
- 10 GB+
The developers suggest 4 threads, plus roughly 1 GHz base and 100 MHz of clock per player.

What uses the memory in Vintage Story
That rule is what the calculator uses. On top of it, content mods add their own blocks, items and creatures, and a world that has been explored far in every direction has more loaded terrain around its players. The developers also suggest 4 CPU threads and roughly 1 GHz plus 100 MHz per player of clock speed.

Where people get it wrong
Treating the rule as a ceiling. It is a conservative estimate for vanilla survival; a heavy mod list or players scattered across a huge world will need more, so leave room above the figure.
