How the numbers are worked out

You buy decay protection with fuel for the castle heart, and how much you need grows with how much you have built. The calculator estimates how long the current fuel will last for a castle your size, so you know whether it will make it to your next session.

The formula

hours = essence ÷ (daily consumption ÷ 24)
effective hours = hours × (1 + blood quality ÷ 100 × 0.2)

Common mistakes

Building more cuts the protection window straight away. Expanding right before a few days away is the textbook way to return to a ruined castle, so add fuel after you expand, not before.
