Rust

Raid Path Planner

Before a Rust raid is a fight, it is a budget. Whether you can get through a wall is never really in doubt; what matters is whether the loot on the other side is worth more than the boom you will spend reaching it.

How the numbers are worked out

Each building tier takes a set amount of every explosive type, and the cheapest choice is often not the one you would reach for. Rockets are quick and pricey; satchels are cheap and unreliable against stone and anything tougher; explosive ammo works well on doors and badly on walls. The planner adds up an entire route — each wall, door and floor standing between you and the loot — so you can weigh one path against another instead of committing to whichever you spotted first.

The formula

  • explosives = ceil(cost per structure × quantity)
  • sulfur = explosives × sulfur per explosive
  • C4 2200 · rocket 1400 · satchel 480 · explosive ammo 25 sulfur each

Common mistakes

The currency that counts is sulfur. Two routes needing the same number of rockets can be thousands of sulfur apart once you factor in what else that sulfur could have become, so decide on the sulfur total, not on how many items each route lists.
